Amazon Driver Accused of Attacking Elderly Man at Elk Grove Gas Station
A 72-year-old man was attacked by Amazon delivery driver Terrence Wheeler at an Elk Grove gas station. The incident occurred on March 30, around 3:15 p.m., when the elderly man pulled into a parking stall at Sheldon Road and East Stockton Boulevard. Wheeler, who was working as a delivery driver for an independent business that contracts with Amazon, became upset because he wanted to park in the same spot.
Police say Wheeler confronted the elderly man and threatened him before striking him on the side of his head as he walked past. The victim fell to the ground. Investigators identified Wheeler after learning of the assault and contacted him, who later turned himself in that day and was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
Amazon stated that Wheeler was no longer eligible to deliver packages for them after they learned of the attack months ago. His next court appearance is set for September 24. The charges against Wheeler include felony elder abuse, felony criminal threats, and misdemeanor battery.
