Amazon Drone Delivery Gets Soggy Welcome
Amazon's Prime Air drone delivery service is expanding to 500 cities by the end of this year, promising delivery times as low as 30 minutes for small packages weighing under five pounds. However, one customer in Richmond, Texas, received a rather soggy package after her drone dropped it into her backyard swimming pool.
Lindsey Austen said she was 'shocked' when the drone deposited her box into the pool, and she doesn't think she'll be using the service again. Amazon spokesperson Allie Payne claimed that such incidents are rare, but Prime Air has received an overwhelmingly positive response from customers so far.
Austen's package contents remain a mystery, leaving some to wonder what could have been lost in the pool. While the incident may not be representative of the entire drone delivery program, it raises questions about the reliability and safety of Amazon's new service.
