Amazon Drone Drops Package In Pool, Highlighting Delivery Challenges

A routine Amazon delivery turned into an unexpected splash when a Prime Air drone released a package into a customer's swimming pool in Texas. The incident occurred during Lindsey Austen's first experience with drone delivery, which is part of Amazon's plans to expand Prime Air to nearly 500 U.S. cities and towns by the end of 2026.

Austen said she received an alert that her order was arriving by drone and began recording as the aircraft approached. However, the high-tech delivery quickly became a much wetter affair when the drone released the package, sending it directly into the water.

'When it went into the pool, I was shocked,' Austen said. 'I don't think I'll be wanting any more drone deliveries.'
