Amazon Drone Drops Package into Customer's Pool Amid Expansion Plans
A Texas resident witnessed a peculiar incident involving Amazon's Prime Air drone delivery service. Lindsey Austen, an Amazon shopper from Richmond, Texas, received an alert that her package was out for delivery by the Prime Air program on Monday.
She heard the drone's loud buzzing noise and rushed outside to watch it drop off her package. However, instead of delivering the package safely, the drone dropped it directly into Austen's backyard pool.
Austen described the incident as shocking: 'When it went into the pool, I was shocked.' The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
Amazon announced plans to expand its Prime Air program across 500 US cities by the end of the year. The service is set to deliver packages in as fast as 30 minutes, but Austen's experience may give some customers pause.
