Amazon Drones Set to Swarm Metro Detroit Skies
Amazon plans to expand its drone delivery service to nearly 500 cities by the end of 2026, but the convenience is not without controversy.
The company has already begun testing its drones in Metro Detroit, with facilities in Hazel Park and Pontiac. The drones can carry packages up to five pounds and have a range of 7.5 miles from their locations.
While some residents are excited about the prospect of drone delivery, others are concerned about the noise they produce. 'It's pretty crazy,' said resident Christian Hoffer. 'You can tell the future is directly in our faces.'
The drones have already attracted attention in Texas, where one was caught missing its mark and landing in a hot tub.
