Amazon Enters Sterling-Denominated Bond Market Amid AI Infrastructure Boom
Amazon, the e-commerce and cloud computing giant, has mandated banks for its inaugural sterling bond issuance. The transaction is expected to launch as early as Wednesday.
This move comes as global hyperscale technology giants continuously raise capital to support artificial intelligence infrastructure development. Amazon's move into the sterling-denominated bond market is part of a broader trend where these companies are diversifying their financing structures to minimize risks associated with AI bubble panic and prevent depletion of liquidity reserves.
Amazon has already issued euro-denominated bonds for the first time in March, raising approximately EUR 14.5 billion through an eight-tranche bond issuance. It is now preparing for its debut sterling-denominated bond offering.
