Amazon Faces Community Concerns Over Data Center Noise in Louisiana
Amazon hosted an open house at the Shreveport Convention Center on August 25 to discuss its proposed data center projects in Bossier and Caddo parishes.
The event aimed to provide residents with information about the projects and address their concerns, according to Roger Wehner, vice president of AWS economic development.
Wehner stated that the company's goal was to be transparent about the issues that residents were most interested in, such as water and energy usage.
However, some residents left the event feeling that it did not allow for enough meaningful community input. One resident, Miller, expressed concerns about noise from the data centers and how they could affect nearby neighborhoods.
Wehner defended Amazon's acoustical team, saying it is dedicated to addressing noise concerns and ensuring that the projects do not negatively impact residents.
