Amazon Freight Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport
A Boeing 767 freighter operated by 21 Air for Amazon Prime Air overran the runway at Miami International Airport on September 6, 2026. The plane, a Boeing 767-33A(ER)(BDSF) with registration N1997A, had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and touched down at Miami at 13:53 hours after a flight time of 2 hours, 11 minutes. The aircraft was traveling at 112 kts (207km/h) when it left the runway, continuing onto the grass at its end and crossing an airport service road before breaching the perimeter fence and hitting several vehicles on the adjacent highway.
The nose landing gear collapsed, and a fire broke out upon impact, possibly originating from the starboard turbofan. The port engines continued to run until firefighters could extinguish them. A fuel leak was contained by emergency responders. At least five people were killed in the incident, with multiple individuals requiring medical attention.
