Amazon Freighter Overruns Runway at Miami International Airport
A Boeing 767 freighter operated on behalf of Amazon's delivery network overran a runway at Miami International Airport, catching fire and prompting the closure of all runways and taxiways.
The incident occurred on September 6, 2026, when the plane, identified as Prime Air Flight 7598, landed on runway 30, which is more than 9,000 feet long. The aircraft, a 32-year-old Boeing 767-300, had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Air traffic control recordings indicate the plane went off the end of the runway and may have struck a vehicle on a perimeter road. Fire crews responded in force to put out the flames and assess patients.
