Amazon Halts Operations with 21 Air After Cargo Plane Crash in Miami
Amazon has paused operations with cargo carrier 21 Air after a Miami-based cargo plane crashed last weekend, killing five people. The aircraft was operating as part of Amazon Air's logistics network when it overran a runway while landing at Miami International Airport.
The pilots considered aborting the landing after the plane touched down, but ultimately proceeded, according to evidence from the flight data recorder. One pilot warned that they were flying 'too fast' just over a minute before the aircraft touched down on the runway.
Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said the company had spent time supporting the investigation and reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident. As a result, Amazon decided to pause its operations with 21 Air, citing confidence in their safety policies, procedures, and training.
