Amazon Halts Operations with Cargo Carrier After Fatal Plane Crash

Amazon has paused operations with cargo carrier 21 Air after one of its Prime Air-branded planes crashed at Miami International Airport, killing five people and injuring five others.

The crash occurred on September 6, 2026, when the aircraft overran runway 30 while landing. According to the National Transportation Safety Board's (NTSB) investigation, a fuel leak slowed initial recovery efforts.

Amazon confirmed that it had decided to suspend operations with 21 Air while the investigation continues. The carrier had been flying packages for Amazon since 2024 and had previously faced safety complaints raised by former employees, which predate the Miami crash.
