Amazon Hikes Prices on Echo, Fire TV, Kindle, and Eero Due to Memory Shortage
Amazon's latest products are getting more expensive due to rising memory and storage costs. The company has quietly increased prices across its Echo, Fire TV, Kindle, and eero product lines without making a public announcement.
The price hikes range from modest increases of $5 to as much as 60% in some cases. For example, the base model Echo Dot now costs $80, up from $50, while the Echo Show 21 has increased by $100 to $500.
Other products affected include the Fire TV Stick HD and 4K Max, which are now priced at $40 and $85 respectively. Amazon's e-readers have also seen price increases, with the 16GB model of the latest Kindle costing $150, up from $110, and the 16GB model of the Kindle Paperwhite now priced at $200, compared to its previous $160.
Amazon attributed the price increases to 'significant increases in memory and storage component costs'. The company emphasized that it wants to provide products at accessible prices while also offering promotions throughout the year.
