Amazon Hikes Prices on Echo, Kindle, and Fire TV Devices Due to Memory Costs
Amazon's Echo, Kindle, and Fire TV devices have seen significant price hikes due to rising memory costs. The company has blamed the increases on 'significant increases in memory and storage component costs'.
The Echo Dot, previously priced at $49.99, now costs $79.99, a 60% increase. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max has jumped from $59.99 to $84.99, while the cheaper Fire TV Stick HD is now $39.99 instead of $34.99.
The Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite have also seen price increases, with the 16GB Kindle going from $109.99 to $149.99, and the Kindle Paperwhite up by $40 to $199.99. Home networking gear has not been spared, with the Eero Pro 7 rising by $100 to $799.99.
Amazon confirmed that it had held off on passing on these costs to customers for as long as possible, but now sees no choice but to increase prices.
