Amazon Hits $3 Trillion Valuation as AWS Surges Amid Bezos Share Sale
Amazon's market value surged past $3 trillion on August 3, driven by strong quarterly earnings and growth in its cloud business, Amazon Web Services (AWS). The company reported second-quarter revenue of $200.61 billion, exceeding forecasts of $196.46 billion.
AWS was a major contributor to the success, generating $42.2 billion in revenue, a 37% increase from last year's earnings and its fastest growth rate in 18 quarters.
However, the milestone was overshadowed by a filing revealing that founder Jeff Bezos intended to sell approximately $4 billion worth of Amazon shares under a pre-planned Rule 10b5-1 arrangement established in November 2025.
