Amazon, InterDigital Settle Patent Dispute, Send IDCC Stock Soaring
InterDigital Inc., a developer of wireless, video, and AI technology, has reached a patent license agreement with Amazon. This deal brings an end to a lengthy global legal battle over video technology patents that began in 2025.
The new agreement covers Amazon's devices and services including Fire TV, Kindle, and Prime Video. As part of the deal, both companies have agreed to resolve all ongoing litigation and use binding arbitration to determine the final terms of the license.
Roth Capital has called this deal 'huge validation for streaming' and a major driver for InterDigital's story. The firm maintains a 'Buy' rating with a price target of $425. William Blair analyst Arjun Bhatia believes the deal could generate between $40 million to $80 million in recurring annual revenue for IDCC.
IDCC stock surged 12% on Thursday, marking its biggest single-day gains since February 2025. The conflict centered around InterDigital's Videocodex patent portfolio, which covers video compression and high-dynamic-range (HDR) technologies.
