Amazon Invests $2 Billion to Fuel Prime Video Growth Across Latin America
Amazon has pledged $2 billion to expand its Prime Video service across Latin America between 2027 and 2030. The investment is aimed at accelerating regional growth by scaling original productions, securing live sports rights, and extending third-party streaming storefronts in countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile.
The company plans to more than double its slate of local original titles by 2030 compared to 2026 levels. This includes over 25 new releases scheduled for 2027, which will be anchored by scripted series, films, and unscripted formats intended to drive regional subscriber retention while offering global crossover potential.
Prime Video's live sports momentum is also expected to continue with the addition of broadcasting rights for the NBA and domestic soccer in Brazil and Mexico. The service will add 38 home matches for the Mexico National Team over four years beginning in September.
