Amazon Invests Big in Latin America with $2B Prime Video Push
Amazon is doubling down on its growth strategy in Latin America, committing over $2 billion to its Prime Video business between 2027 and 2030. The investment aims to increase original content, including series, films, and sports rights, in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile.
The company plans to more than double local originals and release over 25 new titles in 2027. Prime Video is also expanding its live sports coverage, adding NBA games in Brazil and Mexico, and boosting its role in Brazilian soccer with Copa do Brasil and Série A.
Amazon is transforming Prime Video into an entertainment hub by incorporating third-party streaming subscriptions and à-la-carte movie rentals across more Latin American markets. Behind the scenes, Amazon and Amazon MGM Studios are investing in local production talent through expanded training programs to build a sustainable content pipeline in the region.
