Amazon Invests Heavily in Whole Foods Employee Benefits
Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN) has announced a $230 million investment in Whole Foods over the next year, aimed at enhancing employee benefits and wage structures for its grocery workforce.
The move underscores Amazon's commitment to integrating more Amazon-specific benefits and educational programs into its operations, starting January 1, 2027. U.S. Whole Foods employees will gain access to Amazon's comprehensive benefits package, including health, family, and financial support options.
Additionally, the rollout of Amazon's Career Choice program later in 2027 will provide tuition coverage for college, vocational training, and certification programs, enhancing employee development and retention.
The wage increase effective September 28, 2026, will raise average total compensation for hourly store team members to over $29 per hour, inclusive of benefits value, reflecting Amazon's effort to remain competitive in the labor market.
