Amazon Issues Record $25B Debt Amid Growth Fueled by AWS
Amazon has issued US$25 billion in debt this month, making it the most active corporate issuer.
The company's operating income rose by 43% year-on-year to US$27.5 billion in its Q2 results.
The fixed-rate notes have been issued with maturities between 2029 and 2066, and stated interest rates range from 4.60% to 6.25%
Fitch Ratings assigned the notes AA- with a stable outlook, while Moody’s published a report on the debt issue.
Chief financial officer Brian Olsavsky emphasized that Amazon has various options for funding its growth, including debt issuance and other means.
