Amazon Jumps on Memory Price Bandwagon with Broad Device Price Hikes
Amazon has quietly raised prices on its range of Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, and eero devices, with some increases exceeding 60 percent overnight. The company cited 'significant increases in memory and storage component costs' as the reason for the price hikes.
The largest price jumps affected Amazon's entry-level products. The Echo Dot now starts at $79.99, up from $49.99, while the Fire TV Stick 4K Max has risen to $84.99 from $59.99. Kindle owners will also feel the pinch, with the 16GB model increasing in price from $109.99 to $149.99.
Ambient AI demand has put pressure on memory costs, affecting not just Amazon but other tech giants as well. Apple raised prices across its Mac and iPad lineup earlier this year, while Microsoft increased Xbox console prices by $100-$150 and discontinued 2TB configurations.
