Amazon Lets Advertisers Buy Ads in ChatGPT Through New Partnership
Amazon has partnered with OpenAI to allow advertisers on its platform to buy ads in ChatGPT, the AI chatbot. The pilot program allows select US advertisers to test running campaigns across both platforms.
Advertisers can use Amazon's demand-side platform, Amazon DSP, to purchase placements in ChatGPT without dealing directly with OpenAI. They can pay per click or per thousand impressions.
Campaigns are set up and managed by Amazon, while OpenAI's ad system determines which ads are delivered to users. Ads appear as text or images beneath ChatGPT's answers.
Delta Vacations is one of the brands participating in the trial, using 'deep consumer insights' to decide how and when to appear in ChatGPT ads.
