Amazon Locks In 200MW Swedish Wind Power to Fuel Data Center Expansion
Amazon has signed long-term power purchase agreements with four Swedish wind farms to fuel its expanding data center footprint in the Nordic region.
The e-commerce giant confirmed the contracts via email, according to Bloomberg. The deals add roughly 200 megawatts of renewable electricity to Amazon's total contracted supply in Sweden, which will exceed 1 gigawatt once the projects are operational.
The wind installations are being developed by Swedish renewable energy firms Eolus AB and OX2 AB, with OX2 owned by private equity firm EQT AB. Financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
This move reflects Amazon's aggressive push to secure electricity for its expanding network of data centers, which underpin Amazon Web Services and its growing portfolio of AI workloads.
