Amazon & Online Retail Stocks See Strong Q2 Earnings Growth
The Q2 earnings season has come to an end, and it's time to review the performance of online retail stocks. Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and its peers reported strong revenue growth, beating analyst estimates by 2.1%. Despite this, share prices have remained relatively steady, increasing by just 1.3% on average since the latest earnings results.
Amazon's revenue rose to $200.6 billion, a 19.6% year-on-year increase that exceeded analysts' expectations by 2%. The company's AWS segment grew by 36.7%, its fastest growth in 18 quarters. Revolve (RVLV) reported the strongest Q2 results, with revenues up 12.4% to $347.4 million.
Coupang (CPNG), on the other hand, delivered the weakest performance against analyst estimates and posted slowest revenue growth among its peers. Wayfair (W) reported a strong quarter, with revenues up 7.5% to $3.52 billion. Carvana (CVNA) also performed well, with revenues up 52.4% to $7.38 billion.
