Amazon Opens Doors to ChatGPT, Allowing Select Advertisers to Extend Campaigns
Amazon has opened its doors to ChatGPT, allowing select U.S. brands that use its advertising platform to extend their campaigns into the AI platform.
This move marks a significant shift in Amazon's AI strategy, which had previously kept its enormous online marketplace separate from outside AI platforms while building shopping tools of its own.
The decision comes as ChatGPT has gained immense popularity, with 900 million weekly active users, according to OpenAI.
Amazon had already started buying ads on ChatGPT itself, becoming the platform's largest retail advertiser between April and August this year, with a revenue run rate of over $1 billion annually for OpenAI's advertising business.
