Amazon Opens Massive Fulfillment Center in Northern Colorado After Years of Delays
After years of construction and delays, Amazon has finally opened its massive fulfillment center in Loveland, Colorado. The facility spans 3.5 million square feet over five stories and is roughly the size of 60 football fields.
The $400 million investment in Larimer County will create jobs for more than 1,100 employees, with a workforce expected to grow as the company approaches its busiest time of year, according to Amazon senior manager Sam Bailey. 'Today, we employ over 1,100 associates as we ramp up toward that peak season,' Bailey said.
The facility's opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local officials and Amazon representatives. Loveland Mayor Patrick McFall acknowledged the city's patience with the project, which saw two different city councils during its development.
'The image it gives Loveland is bringing in technology into our region,' McFall said.
