Amazon Pauses Operations with 21 Air After Deadly Cargo Plane Crash in Miami
Amazon has paused operations with Miami-based cargo carrier 21 Air after one of its planes crashed at Miami International Airport, killing five people.
The plane, a 32-year-old Boeing 767-300 freighter, overran the runway while landing and struck multiple vehicles on the ground last weekend. It was on its third flight of the day, coming from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which is investigating the crash, the pilots considered aborting the landing after the aircraft touched down. One pilot cautioned that they were flying 'too fast' just over a minute before touching down on the runway.
Amazon said it has paused its operations with 21 Air as it continues to support the investigation and those affected by the accident. The company stated that it will continue working closely with the NTSB and other partners, including Amazon, as the investigation continues.
