Amazon Plane Crash Kills Five Cleaning Crew Members, Family Seeks Justice
A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed on behalf of the family of Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, one of five cleaning crew members killed in a Miami airport plane crash involving an Amazon cargo jet. According to attorney Jorge Garcia, who is a friend of Naranjo's family and filed the suit, Naranjo was driving the van and working a 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. shift for Professional Ocean Service Corp. when he was struck by the speeding jet.
The crash drew attention to the often-overlooked workforce that cleans planes at airports, including those who work in hot and dangerous conditions for low pay. Garcia described Naranjo as 'a very hardworking man, very loved by his wife, very loved by his son.' The lawsuit is filed against Amazon, 21 Air, which operated the plane, and the pilots.
Professional Ocean Service Corp., which has been cleaning planes at Miami International Airport for at least 15 years, said in a statement that their employees are 'far more than the people who work beside us each day, they are family, and they are deeply loved.'
