Amazon Plane Crash Pilots Face NTSB Interview as Miami Airport Partially Reopens
An Amazon cargo plane crash at Miami International Airport killed five people and injured five others. The incident occurred on September 6, when the Boeing 767-33A overshot the runway and collided with a van carrying seven employees from a company that cleans aircrafts and a Toyota SUV.
The pilots of the crashed plane are set to be interviewed by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on September 9. The captain, 55, and first officer, 37, were taken to the hospital for treatment but have since been released. NTSB officials plan to speak with the two pilots before releasing any data from the flight recorders.
A portion of one runway at Miami International Airport has reopened, but the runway where the crash occurred remains closed. The airport is expected to be back to fully operational within a week, according to NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy.
