Amazon Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport
An Amazon Air plane operated by 21 Air overran a runway at Miami International Airport in Florida on September 6, striking cars and killing five people. The Federal Aviation Administration reported that the plane was cleared to land on runway 30 but the pilot cautioned about excessive speed before the recording ended.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation into the incident. NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy said they have questions for the pilots and are analyzing data from the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder.
Amazon announced it would pause its operations with 21 Air, citing a desire to support the investigation and review surrounding circumstances. The company released a statement saying it will continue working to support the investigation and those affected by the crash.
