Amazon Plane Overruns Runway at Miami International Airport

An Amazon cargo plane overran the runway and crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, prompting U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to shut down the airport while the wreckage was being investigated.

According to Fox News correspondent Madison Scarpino, who reported from the scene, there were more than 60 fire trucks responding to the crash, with 'huge clouds of thick smoke' billowing from the Boeing 767 plane.

The plane had just left San Juan, Puerto Rico about an hour before it overran the Miami runway. Videos on social media showed heavy flames emerging from the plane, but it was unclear how many people were aboard or if there were any deaths or injuries.

Former FAA team rep Kyle Bailey explained that thunderstorms in the vicinity and wet conditions may have contributed to the crash, as well as heavy winds that made landing more difficult.
