An Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767-300(F) has reportedly overrun the runway at Miami International Airport (MIA) on Sunday afternoon. The aircraft, which was operating as 21 Air flight 2I7598 from San Juan (SJU), overran the paved surface and crossed the airport perimeter road before coming to rest in an adjacent field.

The FAA issued a ground stop effective from approximately 2:02 p.m. EDT until 3:00 p.m. EDT, halting inbound traffic while emergency crews responded. The aircraft involved was N1997A, a Boeing 767-33A(ER)(BDSF) freighter built in 1994.

The airframe carries an extensive service history, beginning with Sobelair in Belgium before passing through various airlines as a passenger jet and later converted to a freighter. At the time of the incident, the aircraft was more than 32 years old. The FAA has not released any official cause for the excursion.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fire and a collapsed nose landing gear, though no statement has yet been issued by the FAA, Miami-Dade Aviation Department, Amazon Prime Air or 21 Air on the cause of the incident. The NTSB will likely examine landing performance, runway conditions, and any mechanical factors as part of an eventual inquiry.
