Amazon Prime Air Plane Crashes at Miami Airport, Killing Five
An Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767-300 freighter crashed while landing at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring five others. The plane, operated by cargo carrier 21 Air, was landing shortly before 2 p.m. EDT after departing San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The aircraft overran the runway, striking multiple vehicles and crashing, according to Reuters. Miami-Dade Fire Chief Ray Jadallah confirmed that five people died and five others were injured, with two people trapped inside vehicles hit by the plane and the pilot and co-pilot trapped inside the aircraft.
Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel expressed the company's devastation at the crash, stating they were 'heartbroken' to learn of the fatalities. Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Benzinga.
