Amazon Prime Air Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport
An Amazon Prime Air cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon.
The Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which was affiliated with cargo carrier company 21 Air, overran the runway after landing around 2 p.m. and struck multiple vehicles near the 2100 block of Northwest 42nd Avenue, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The plane, which had departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, caught fire after the crash, with heavy flames and smoke showing. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and rescue multiple patients.
A ground stop was implemented at the airport as a precautionary measure, with all runways and taxiways closed until further notice.
