Amazon Prime Air Plane Crashes Through Miami Runway After Landing
A Boeing 767-300 freighter operated by 21 Air for Amazon Prime Air overran the runway at Miami International Airport on September 6, prompting an airport-wide closure and a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ground stop.
The aircraft, registration N1997A, arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico's Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport around 14:00 EDT and overran the diagonal runway after landing. Multiple vehicles were struck, and the plane caught fire, with more than 60 units responding to the scene.
The FAA said it will investigate the incident, while the National Transportation Safety Board is gathering information about the occurrence. Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel confirmed that 21 Air operated the aircraft and stated that Amazon was working with local authorities to understand what happened and support those affected.
