Amazon Prime Ecosystem Gains Momentum as Membership Growth Surges
Amazon's Prime ecosystem is gaining momentum as the company enters the second half of 2026. In recent announcements, Amazon revealed its full schedule for NBA on Prime, which includes exclusive coverage of the Eastern Conference Finals and WNBA games. This expansion of content adds to a growing pipeline of Amazon MGM Studios originals extending into 2027.
The strategy appears to be paying off as Prime membership growth continues to rise with double-digit year-over-year growth in its second-quarter 2026 earnings report. The company also saw a more than 40% increase in items delivered same-day or overnight to Prime members in the first half of the year, and paid unit growth of 17% year over year.
Amazon's advertising revenues climbed 26% to $19.8 billion, with Alexa+ expanding to four additional countries and users spending 40% more per order. The company reported net sales of $200.6 billion in the quarter, up 20% year over year excluding currency effects.
