Amazon Prime Video Drops $2B on Latin American Content Bombardment
Amazon Prime Video is ramping up its investment in Latin America, pledging more than $2 billion between 2027 and 2030 to produce local content.
The move targets Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile, where the platform aims to double its original productions compared to 2026.
Prime Video plans to release over 25 new titles in 2027, including scripted series, films, and reality shows, as well as new seasons of popular titles like La Oficina and Tremembé.
The investment also includes sports content, with the platform looking to expand its live sports offering in the region.
This strategic decision reflects a broader shift in the global streaming business, where platforms are prioritizing regional content to build stronger connections with local audiences.
