Amazon Riverside Workers Walk Out Over Wages, Working Conditions
About 100 warehouse workers at Amazon's Riverside facility walked off the job on September 2, demanding better wages and working conditions. The unionized workers from Teamsters Local 1932 claimed that Amazon has been responding to their demands with 'illegal intimidation.'
Ambassador Emmanuel Cadena, a worker at the facility, stated that the company has not tried to bargain in any capacity despite staff meetings where management allegedly provided anti-union information. The workers are seeking fair pay and a safer workplace, which they claim Amazon does not provide.
Amazon spokesperson Sam Stephenson disputed the allegations, stating that the company already provides safe and inclusive workplaces, competitive pay, health benefits on day one, and opportunities for career growth. Stephenson added that the Teamsters' demands are 'unreasonable' and that the workers are violating federal labor law by not negotiating in good faith.
