Amazon Rolls Out AWD Storage Program in Europe
Amazon is set to introduce its Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) program in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK on August 20th, 2026. This service aims to simplify storage for sellers by providing a pay-as-you-go, low-cost bulk storage option that eliminates the need for frequent inventory movements between upstream facilities and Amazon fulfillment centers.
AWD is an expansion of a program launched four years ago in the US, which allowed sellers to use the service as an alternative selling channel. The new UK and EU implementation will enable overseas sellers to hold stock locally, ready for onward distribution to FBA fulfillment centers.
Those who have been affected by Long Term Storage fees or capacity restrictions on their FBA storage may find AWD particularly beneficial. To participate in the program, all products must undergo prep and item labeling before being shipped in bulk boxes with unique SSCC labels.
