Amazon Scammers Get 16-17 Years in Prison for $10M Luxury Spending Spree
Two women from Georgia have been sentenced in a massive fraud scheme that targeted Amazon. Brittany Hudson and Kayricka Wortham submitted over 1,000 fake vendor invoices to the e-commerce giant between June and December 2022.
The scheme netted them nearly $10 million, which they used to purchase a luxury home, a Lamborghini, and a Porsche. Hudson owned a delivery company that contracted with Amazon, while Wortham worked as an Amazon warehouse operations manager at the time.
After being charged in December 2022, the duo attempted to defraud another company while out on bond in 2023. The U.S. government has ordered them to pay back the stolen amount of $9.4 million, as well as forfeit their home and vehicles, plus an additional $3.3 million.
Hudson was sentenced to 16 years in prison, while Wortham received a 17-year sentence for their roles in the scheme.
