Amazon Seeks $133M Tax Break for New NY Fulfillment Center
Amazon is seeking $133 million in tax subsidies from Orange County, New York to convert a 100-acre quarry into a new fulfillment center. The project, valued at over $600 million, would create hundreds of permanent jobs and rely on a mix of human workers and automated equipment, according to Amazon representatives.
The proposed warehouse is positioned near Interstate 84 and is being developed in partnership with Scannell Properties, a local developer. While the project promises economic growth for the community, it has also raised concerns about the need for tax subsidies and the impact on the environment.
