Amazon Shines as Pershing Square's Best Bet Among Tech Titans
Pershing Square Capital Management, run by billionaire investor Bill Ackman, owns Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta Platforms. The hedge fund has a concentrated portfolio of eight to twelve holdings at any given time, focusing on core U.S.-based, large-cap consumer-facing companies.
Ackman's company acquired its Amazon position about a year ago, while the Meta position was added in 2025. Microsoft was introduced in early 2026, after Pershing Square closed out its Alphabet holding in the first quarter of that year.
Pershing Square sees Amazon as the best investment opportunity among these three stocks. The company's retail business can nearly double its profitability through higher-margin advertising revenue, network density, and automation initiatives.
AWS reported accelerating sales growth, similar to when it was half its current size. Revenue from AWS increased 37% year over year in the first quarter, with a $4.6 billion increase. Amazon has a $496 billion backlog, a triple-digit increase over last year.
