Amazon Smashes Quarterly Sales Record with AWS-Led Growth
Amazon has reported its largest quarter ever in Q2 2026, achieving $200.6 billion in sales and a 43% increase in operating income.
The growth was mainly driven by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and advertising, with AWS contributing 21% of total revenue but 60% of operating income, boasting a 39.4% margin and a $496 billion backlog growing rapidly.
Amazon's investment in Anthropic adds strategic financial flexibility and helps mitigate risks related to Nvidia’s chip pricing.
