Amazon SSD Delivery: Sellers Offered Extra Fee Option
Amazon has expanded its Sub Same-Day (SSD) delivery options to allow buyers to receive their orders in as little as 2-5 hours for certain products. The program uses dedicated fulfillment centers located near 2,300 metro areas, automatically selecting eligible products based on customer demand and supply signals.
While Amazon has not charged sellers a fee for participating in the SSD program thus far, it is now inviting Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) sellers to pay extra to have additional products included. Sellers will only be charged for units that actually ship through Sub Same-Day, at a per-unit price they set.
A seller shared their invitation on social media, expressing concern that sellers are being asked to chip in after customers with Prime membership are already charged extra for super fast delivery. Several consultants advised sellers to ensure they receive incremental sales and that the fees don't eat into their margin.
