Amazon Stocks Soar Despite Near-Doubling of Debt Load
Amazon's stock surged 15.18 percent on Friday to close at EUR 235.65, its best day in years.
The company's debt has nearly doubled to EUR 128.9 billion in just six months, with long-term debt increasing from EUR 65.6 billion in December.
CEO Andy Jassy has lifted the full-year investment forecast to roughly EUR 220 billion, with the bulk going into data centers and specialized chips for AI demand.
The economics of this buildout are unforgiving: a new data center consumes capital for two years before generating its first dollar of revenue, as Jassy himself has pointed out.
