Amazon Stuck Below 52-Week High Despite AWS Growth

Amazon's stock price has been stuck below its 52-week high of $287.20, despite the company's strong performance in recent quarters.

The e-commerce giant has zero Sell ratings among 61 analysts and a beta of 1.443, making it a volatile stock that swings hard when investors question AI payback timing.

Amazon's capital expenditures (capex) have been a major concern, with the company guided to spend $200 billion in 2026, which has led to negative trailing free cash flow of $7.6 billion.

However, CEO Andy Jassy is optimistic about Amazon's prospects, citing the growth of its AWS business, which now has an annualized revenue run rate of $169 billion and a backlog of $496 billion.

To reach a price target of $425 by 2027, Amazon would need to experience significant multiple expansion, with a forward P/E ratio of 29x, up from the current 20x implied by the base case forecast of $353.57.
