Amazon Sued After Delivery Driver Punches Elderly Man at Gas Station
A disturbing incident at an ARCO Gas Station in Elk Grove, California, has led to a civil lawsuit against Amazon. On March 30, a delivery driver in an Amazon uniform punched a man, identified as a 71-year-old auditor of agricultural and animal production facilities.
The altercation began when the driver allegedly accused the man of taking his parking spot at the gas station. The driver then confronted the man in the parking lot, followed him into the store, and hit him from behind, causing the man to fall to the ground.
According to attorney Tony Buzbee, who is representing the victim, the driver reacted 'hyper aggressively' and was subsequently arrested and charged with felony battery and elder abuse among other charges. Buzbee believes the driver has a history of violence.
Amazon spokesperson stated that the incident occurred while the driver was working for an independent business that contracts with Amazon to deliver packages. After investigating, Amazon shared the details with the third-party company, and the driver was no longer eligible to deliver Amazon packages.
