Amazon Sued Over Alleged Pregnancy Discrimination Against Thousands of Employees
Amazon is facing a proposed nationwide class action lawsuit for allegedly discriminating against thousands of pregnant employees. The complaint, filed in Brooklyn, New York federal court, claims Amazon systematically denies basic accommodations to pregnant workers and fires those who take excessive time off.
The four former warehouse employees filing the suit claim Amazon regularly threatens and fires pregnant workers, while also demanding medical documentation from those seeking accommodations. This allegedly violates both federal law and New York labor regulations.
Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel stated that the company provides pregnancy-related accommodations to tens of thousands of employees annually, with an approval rate exceeding 99.9% in the last year.
