Amazon Sued Over Seafood Sustainability Claims

Amazon is facing a proposed class-action lawsuit accusing it of misleading consumers by marketing seafood products with environmental claims that allegedly overstated their sustainability.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Seattle, challenges labels and marketing language including 'dolphin safe,' 'responsibly sourced,' 'sustainable,' 'wild caught' and 'MSC Certified Sustainable Seafood.'

Plaintiffs argue these claims led consumers to believe Amazon's seafood products caused little harm to oceans and the broader environment.

However, they alleged that the sustainability representations were either unsupported or materially misleading.
