Amazon Suspends Operations with Cargo Carrier After Fatal Plane Crash
Amazon has suspended operations with 21 Air, the cargo carrier that operated Flight 7598 which crashed after landing at Miami International Airport last week. The crash killed five people and injured five others. According to Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel, safety is their top priority, whether in their own operations or when working with partners.
Amazon said they have been supporting the investigation into the cause of the crash and reviewing some surrounding circumstances. They decided to pause operations with 21 Air, which is one of several direct air carrier partners that Amazon uses to transport freight. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation and has recovered the plane's black boxes.
21 Air released a statement saying they are focused on aiding those affected by the crash and working with federal investigators and Amazon amid the investigation. They also stated that they are confident in their safety policies, procedures, and training.
