Amazon Topples $3 Trillion Market Cap Threshold Amid AI-Fueled Growth
Amazon's market capitalization surpassed $3 trillion for the first time in history following its quarterly earnings report. The company's stock rose by about 4% during Monday's trading session, marking its best day since May 5.
The growth is largely attributed to Amazon Web Services (AWS), whose revenue reached $42.2 billion, exceeding analysts' forecast of $40.54 billion. This increase is due in part to strong demand for artificial intelligence-related services.
Amazon's CEO Andy Jesse stated that despite the increased investment in AI development, the company still faces capacity constraints. He noted that even with a capital expenditure forecast of $220 billion for 2026, Amazon won't have enough capacity to meet all the demand by then and possibly into 2027.
